Letters from us + What you can expect

Hello! Ahhhh, first blog post! Just wanted to hop on and give a quick summary of our mission and what you can expect to see from us very soon <3.

As a pre-medical student, being able to communicate across cultural and language barriers is an important skill for my future career, but more than that, it's a practice that will allow me to make more meaningful connections with diverse groups of people.

In about a week from when I am writing this, I plan to start studying for the MCAT and in about 2 months I'll be off to explore Mexico! During this trip, I will have the opportunity to shadow local physicians, take Spanish courses, and attend health seminars. I hope to use this platform as a way for me to self-reflect on my growth throughout this time and to share some cool stuff along the way. For now, enjoy Paige's content and stay tuned until July when I start my Mexico segment of the blog :0

Hello! This is Paige, and in one week from now I will be in Cusco, Peru! On this trip, I will be shadowing dentists as well as assisting them, taking vitals of patients, and exploring the city and Machu Picchu. As a pre-dental student, I think it is both exciting and beneficial to be able to have the opportunity for a trip like this and be able to see how dentistry is practiced around the world and learn more from a new perspective. Dentistry is all about building connections with patients, and I am hoping to experience that while on this trip.

I am so excited to share my journey and be able to reflect on the days I spend in Peru over the two weeks I will be there. The journey all begins next Saturday when I head to Charleston to get ready for my long flight; I'll keep you updated!
