What has Haley been doing???

Since Paige has been back for about a month, and we are exactly 3 weeks away from departure to Mexico (WOO HOO!), I thought this would be a great time to let you know what I've been doing! Because if you know me, you know THE GRIND NEVER STOPS.

I've started studying for the MCAT and I can confirm that when people say it's hard, THEY MEAN IT. I've taken a few practice exams and let's just say there's room for improvement...lots of it...but big accomplishments never come easy!

While all this was happening, I finished about half of the pre-departure work for Mexico, earning a couple of certificates along the way. One more half to go!

In May, my brother graduated from the MUSC College of Dental Medicine and at the beginning of June, we moved his stuff 8 hours away to Kentucky, where he'll be doing oral and maxillofacial surgery residency for the next 6 years. Go cardinals!

I also decided to come back to Piedmont Augusta Hospital this year to volunteer in Day Surgery, where I've met some awesome people, including physicians, fellow volunteers, and my middle school teacher...? On my shifts, I've had the opportunity to speak to some patients in Spanish which always gives me the jitters but is so, so exhilarating. I've recently been cleared to shadow in the Day Surgery OR and will be in there next week, so maybe I'll have the chance to talk about that later as well.

My Dad and I recently celebrated our birthday (fun fact: I was born on my Dad's birthday), and as I cherished my last days as a teen, know that I was also thinking about everyone who has helped me get where I am today <3. If you're reading this, thank you for your support. Always.
