A Never-ending Saga of Breakfast Noodles

3/20/24

Woke up at Cliff Resort this morning, and guess what I had for breakfast??? NOODLES!! And some fruit- definitely what I'll miss most is the fruit. Phan Thiet is especially known for dragonfruit, but very few fruit in general is imported to Vietnam because it's so close to the equator. Everything grows!

We went to the beach, and that is probably one of the cleanest beaches I've seen. They put a net out to stop sharks and fish from getting to shore, plus the fishermen get whatever fish is left out there- all that to say, you don't have to worry about critters coming after you! Fun Fact: when I was little, we went to Myrtle Beach and a shark brushed by my dad's leg!

I got absolutely annihilated by the waves, but that's okay because you know what would fix that? More noodles. And rice.

We drove back to Saigon and stayed at Rex Hotel. Took a little night stroll, went to a bookstore, had some Korean bbq at GoGi and a parfait at Sunwah cafe, and called that. a. day.

Woke up and had breakfast at the hotel- you could probably guess I had. NOODLES- then headed out to go shopping. Bought a couple of gifts and souvenirs before heading out to get some chicken. The chicken here is so much more fresh than the US!

Did MORE shopping, got an Ao Dai tailored, rode on a motorcycle, and then went to eat AGAIN. The funny thing is, the time change makes it so that you don't feel hungry, but even if I was hungry, I don't think I'd ever feel that way for long.

One thing that never fails to astonish me is the traffic. Take New York traffic and replace half of the cars with motorcycles. That's Saigon.

Today was more of a family day since it was our last full day. We went out to eat at a Chinese style place, and LOOK AT THIS FISH. yep, that's the head.

We had a little bit of time left to ourselves, so we went shopping (I got a dress at UniQlo and I swear it fits better than anything I've bought in the US??), ate some fried chicken, bought some breakfast for tomorrow morning before our flight back, and here we are!

Stay tuned for 1 more post!!
